What better way to kick off Beyond the Bag than by giving our bags a fresh start for the new year? It’s the perfect time to clear out the clutter—not just in our homes, but in our bags as well. Let’s face it: bag chaos can start to feel overwhelming, especially with those receipts that you keep saving but not scanning! - Guilty!
Here’s how to kick off the new year with a bag that’s as organized as you:
1. Empty Your Bag Completely
This is the only way to start the new year fresh. Do it.
2. Vacuum The Interior
Sometimes when I'm in my office I'll wrap my shipping tape around my hand and grab those tiny little crumbs at the bottom of my bag.
3. Sort Through the Clutter
Decide what you're keeping, what receipts you need to scan, and throw out the rest!
4. Create a System of Organization
Once you’ve pared down the contents of your bag, it’s time to organize. These are two of my favorite ways to keep my bag organized:

Bag Inserts: Amazon has many in various fabrics, colors, and sizes. This is very handy when switching between bags. Major plus, it keeps the lining of your bag clean. A clean bag can mean a higher resale value if you ever decide to sell it in the second hand market.

Pouches: An essential for keeping your items organized, perfect for makeup, chargers, or pens.
5. Maintain the Organization
Now that your bag is clean and organized, make a commitment to keep it that way. Set a weekly reminder to check for any clutter—especially those receipts—and stay on top of what you carry. As the year progresses, keep only what you truly use and love, and don’t hesitate to purge what no longer serves you.
